A deep and highly effective treatment for injuries and conditions

Equine Advanced Therapy

Winback Radiofrequency for Equine Rehabilitation

Winback radiofrequency is a modern, non-invasive therapy used in equine physiotherapy to support healing, reduce pain, and improve tissue function at both superficial and deep levels.

It works by delivering controlled radiofrequency energy into the body, helping to increase circulation, stimulate cellular repair, and enhance the body’s natural recovery processes.

How Does Winback Help the Body?

Winback radiofrequency supports healing through controlled energy delivery that works at both surface and deep tissue levels, helping the body recover more efficiently and effectively.

Deep Thermal Effect (Diathermy)

Winback safely generates a controlled increase in tissue temperature, improving circulation and preparing tissues for healing and movement.

  • Increases local blood flow
  • Enhances oxygen delivery
  • Improves tissue elasticity
  • Reduces stiffness and tension

Cellular Stimulation Effect

At a deeper level, Winback stimulates cellular activity to support the body’s natural repair processes across muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia.

  • Supports tissue regeneration
  • Accelerates healing response
  • Improves soft tissue function
  • Reduces pain and inflammation

How It Works in Practice

Winback radiofrequency is delivered using a closed-circuit system with an active treatment electrode and a return plate placed on the body. Energy flows safely between the two, allowing precise targeting of specific tissue depths.

CAP mode targets more superficial tissues such as muscle and fascia, improving circulation and mobility.

RES mode reaches deeper structures including tendons, ligaments, joints, and deep muscle groups, making it especially effective for equine rehabilitation cases.

This adaptability allows treatment to be tailored to the exact tissue being treated, making it a powerful tool alongside manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation.

Conditions Treated

Horses are good at hiding discomfort. By the time something becomes obvious there's usually been something going on for a while. These are the most common reasons horse owners get in touch.

Conditions Treated with Winback Radiofrequency

Winback supports a wide range of musculoskeletal and soft tissue conditions in horses, helping reduce pain, improve healing, and restore function.

Joint Conditions

Osteoarthritis (OA), OCD, synovitis and capsulitis affecting mobility and comfort.

Tendon Injuries

Acute, chronic injuries, tears, avulsions and ruptures requiring controlled healing support.

Ligament Injuries

Desmitis, ruptures and chronic ligament damage requiring deep tissue repair support.

Spinal Conditions

Kissing spines, facet joint OA and other spinal pathologies affecting movement.

Muscle Tension & Contracture

Trigger points, tight fascia, compensatory muscle patterns and stiffness.

Post-Surgical Rehab

Supports recovery before and after surgery, including cases with implants.

Soft Tissue Injury

Fibrillar rupture, bursitis, splints and periostitis.

Inflammation & Swelling

Oedema, haematoma and acute inflammatory conditions affecting performance.

Wounds & Scar Tissue

Supports healing of wounds and improves mobility in scar tissue restriction.

Laminitis & Pain Management

Supports pain relief, circulation and comfort in chronic and acute conditions.

TMJ & Jaw Issues

Temporomandibular joint dysfunction affecting chewing, tension and posture.

Performance Enhancement

Optimises movement, recovery and overall performance in sport horses.

Helston Post Operation Physiotherapy

Winback Radiofrequency

One of the key advantages is that the physiological effects continue after treatment, meaning the body continues responding even once the session has finished.

Structured Rehabilitation That Works

Winback treatment is most effective when used as part of a structured rehabilitation plan. Early-stage injury cases often require more frequent sessions before gradually spacing out as tissue repair improves, function returns, and the horse regains strength and comfort.
