Physiotherapy for Your Horse, At Your Yard

I offer mobile physiotherapy for horses across Cornwall. Every visit includes a full whole-body assessment, not just a quick look at where it hurts. Whether your horse is recovering from injury, competing regularly, or just not moving quite right, I'll come to you and work with them in their own environment.

This isn't just "the back lady." I look at the whole horse, assessing muscle balance, posture, gait, and movement patterns across all disciplines. From happy hackers to competition horses, the approach is always the same: thorough, hands-on, and tailored to your horse.

When Should Your Horse See a Physiotherapist?

Horses are good at hiding discomfort. By the time something becomes obvious there's usually been something going on for a while. These are the most common reasons horse owners get in touch.

Structured rehabilitation after tendon, ligament, or joint injuries. Supporting your horse back to soundness safely.

Muscle Imbalance & Compensation

When something isn't right, horses compensate. I find where the imbalances are and work to correct them before they cause bigger problems.

About the service

What Is Equine Physiotherapy?

 Canine Veterinary Physiotherapy

Equine physiotherapy is hands-on treatment for horses that helps with recovery, performance, and general comfort. I assess how your horse moves, where they're holding tension, and what's going on with their muscles, joints, and posture. Then I use techniques like manual therapy, Winback radiofrequency, electrotherapy, and massage to treat whatever I find.

A lot of people think of a physio as "the back lady" and honestly that's one of the things I want to change. I look at the whole horse. How they stand, how they move, how they carry themselves under saddle and on the ground. Sometimes the problem isn't where the symptoms are. A horse that's stiff through the back might actually have a hind limb issue that's causing them to compensate. You don't find that if you're only looking at the back.

When Does Your Horse Need Physiotherapy?

 Canine Veterinary Physiotherapy

If something feels off, that's enough of a reason to get it checked. Horses are good at hiding discomfort and by the time it becomes obvious there's usually been something brewing for a while. Things like reluctance to bend one way, being stiff after work, changes in behaviour under saddle, or just not performing the way they used to can all be signs that physio would help.

It's not just for injured horses either. If you compete or do regular schooling, a maintenance session every few months can catch things early and keep your horse in good shape. Veteran horses especially benefit from regular treatment. It's not about fixing a problem at that point, it's about keeping them comfortable and mobile for as long as possible.

Getting started

What's Involved in Getting Started?

 Canine Veterinary Physiotherapy

Same as with the canine side. If your horse has a diagnosed condition then your vet can fill in a referral form and send it over. If you just want to get your horse assessed and there's no specific diagnosis, you can get in touch directly and I'll sort out vet consent afterwards.

All equine visits are mobile. I come to your yard wherever you are in Cornwall. Based in Rosudgeon near Penzance, travel is included for the first 12 miles and there's a small charge beyond that. First appointment is a full assessment looking at posture, gait, muscle symmetry, palpation, all of it. Then I build a treatment plan and we go from there.
