Professional Canine Physiotherapy in Cornwall
Helping dogs recover from injury, manage arthritis, improve mobility, and feel their best — through hands-on, tailored treatment plans.

Canine physiotherapy is hands-on treatment that helps dogs recover from surgery, manage long-term conditions like arthritis and IVDD, and get back to moving the way they should. It's the same principle as physio for people — assessing how the body is moving, identifying what's not working as it should, and using targeted treatment to put it right.
I use a combination of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, laser therapy, radiofrequency therapy, and electrotherapy — depending on what your dog needs. But it always starts with a proper assessment. I look at how your dog walks, where they're holding tension, their posture, muscle tone, and joint health. The treatment plan comes from that — not from a standard template.
Every dog that comes to me is different. Some arrive a week after cruciate surgery. Others have been struggling for years and the owner has only just found out that physio is even an option for dogs. Doesn't matter where they're starting from — the goal is the same. Get them more comfortable and moving better.
Reduces inflammation, stimulates tissue repair, and provides effective pain relief — included as standard in sessions where clinically appropriate. Often one of the most visibly impactful treatments from the first session.
Hands-on treatment to reduce muscle tension, improve joint mobility, and address the compensatory tightness that builds up when a dog is guarding a painful area. Most dogs find it deeply relaxing.
TENS provides effective pain relief, particularly during flare-ups. NMES stimulates muscles that aren't firing correctly — maintaining muscle mass and encouraging proper activation during recovery.
Restores the body's sense of position and movement — disrupted by injury, surgery, or long-term joint disease. Balance work improves coordination, reduces re-injury risk, and builds confidence in movement.
Building the right muscles in the right way. A progressive strengthening programme protects joints, supports recovery, and keeps dogs active for longer — tailored to each dog's age, condition, and ability.
What happens between sessions matters just as much as the sessions themselves. Every dog leaves with a clear, tailored home programme — and I'm available to answer questions as you work through it.
Watching how a dog moves reveals a huge amount — compensations, asymmetries, subtle lameness, and loading patterns that a quick examination alone won't pick up. Every visit starts with a proper gait assessment.

Sooner than you'd think, honestly. If your dog has had surgery, getting physio started in the first couple of weeks makes a massive difference to how well they recover. The dogs that start early just do better.
It's not all about surgery though. If your dog is getting slower on walks or takes a while to get going in the mornings, that's worth looking into. Same with stiffness after exercise. And if you've got a working dog or an agility dog, keeping on top of their muscle balance and catching niggles early stops small things turning into big problems.
Older dogs especially benefit from regular sessions. It's not about fixing something that's broken — it's about keeping them comfortable for longer.

Hydrotherapy is extremely helpful — but it cannot replace land-based physiotherapy. Full recovery requires progressive loading, gait retraining, muscle activation, joint control, and restoration of functional movement. While hydrotherapy provides low-impact exercise and supports muscle strengthening, animals can still have dysfunctional movement, pain, poor muscle activation, or compensation patterns. A structured physiotherapy plan ensures these issues are addressed, maximising the benefits of hydrotherapy and promoting a safe, complete recovery.

If you don't have access to a local physiotherapist, struggle to travel, or just want some guidance before booking an in-person appointment — I offer virtual consultations for dogs. Get expert advice from home, wherever you are in the UK.
To give your dog the best possible recovery and to make planning treatment easier — I offer structured rehabilitation packages for common orthopaedic and spinal conditions. All packages include a tailored home exercise plan and ongoing progression throughout recovery.
It's really simple. If your dog has already been diagnosed with something — whether that's post-surgery or a condition your vet has confirmed — your vet just fills in a referral form and sends it over. If you're not sure and just want to find out whether physio could help, you can contact me directly and I'll sort out the vet consent side of things for you.
The first appointment is a proper assessment. I look at how your dog walks, their posture, where they're holding tension, muscle tone, and joints. Then I build a treatment plan from there and give you a home exercise programme to work through between sessions.
