Canine Physiotherapy And Health
Simple yet effective things that you can include in your dogs daily life. From healthy animals that would enjoy a massage to those post-surgical cases that require physiotherapy to help them get back to full function.
Introduction
Step 1: Getting to Know Your Animal
We’ll start with a friendly chat about your animal’s history, any symptoms, and any concerns you have. This first step is also a perfect time for your animal to become comfortable with me and for me to get to know them, before we begin the treatment!
Dynamic Assessment
Step 2: Dynamic Assessment
Next, I’ll observe your animal’s movement carefully, analyzing each step to check for any signs of lameness, discomfort, or asymmetry. This helps us identify specific areas that may need attention during treatment. Video analysis may be used to watch in slow motion. How they move over obstacles may also be tested.
Static Assessment
Step 3: Static Assessment
Building on the dynamic assessment, I will evaluate the condition of your animal’s musculoskeletal system. By combining insights from both the dynamic and static assessments, we can pinpoint specific areas that need attention to enhance your pet’s comfort and overall well-being. Joint range of motion will also be tested,
Treatment
Step 4: Treatment
Based on the insights gathered from both the static and dynamic assessments, I’ll develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your animal's specific needs. This plan is designed to effectively reduce pain, enhance flexibility, and promote overall comfort. Treatment options may include techniques such as massage, stretching exercises, and kinesiology taping, ensuring a comprehensive approach to your pet’s recovery.
Discussion
Step 5: Discussion
To wrap up our session, we’ll go over what we've achieved during the treatment and how these improvements can positively impact your animal’s health, posture, and overall well-being. By combining my dynamic observations, static findings, and feedback from the treatment, I’ll create a personalized rehabilitation plan tailored specifically for your animal. This plan will include targeted exercises to help maximize the benefits of the treatment.
I want you to know that extensive support and aftercare services are available to all clients following treatment. If you find yourself struggling with a particular exercise, notice any changes in symptoms, or simply want to chat about the rehabilitation process, I’m just a call or message away. I'm here to support you every step of the way!
What Happens After the Appointment?
Support Through the Ups and Downs
I believe in a collaborative approach between the pet owner, your animal, and myself as the physiotherapist. Whether your dog is recovering from surgery and needs weekly treatments or is a leisure dog on a maintenance schedule, I provide comprehensive aftercare and ongoing communication to all clients between appointments. My goal is to create a supportive network, empowering you to observe your dog with a therapeutic perspective.
Rest
I recommend allowing your dog to rest for 24 hours after treatment. However, this may vary depending on individual cases, and we’ll discuss the best approach during your appointment.
Report
Following your appointment, I will send over a list of the recommendations and exercises. I am aware people can't remember everything! So the exercises will have a description of why and how. this is normally via a link in emails. I will also communicate with your vet any findings that are worth taking note of.
